What makes Ollo different from other search sites?
Ollo aims to be the simplest search service for business listings and classified ads on the web. With drill down keyword, location and price search boxes there is no complex directory structure to navigate. Advertisers also get easy ad submission and management. You can target ads globally or locally with ease.
How do I use the different search boxes?
Searches are available on keywords (What), on location (Where) and on price (Price). Not all fields are needed for any search. Leaving the location and price blank will yield a worldwide search on just keywords. Sometimes you may want to restrict your search to a particular country in which case just add it to the location box. You can put in a town or city too. You might want to put 'Birmingham UK' unless your want 'Birmingham USA'. Price is a useful box when looking for things like cars or houses. You can put in a number and get all price matches within 10% of that number or enter a range like '3000 to 4000'.
What can I advertise on Ollo?
You can advertise your business, your car, your house or just about anything (that's legal) on Ollo. You can link to your own web site or create a page on Ollo with pictures, text and contact info. Most business listings will link directly to their website (select Ollo Link Ad) whereas classifieds often need their own web page generated on Ollo (select an Ollo Ad Page). The Ollo Ad Pages have special categories for the more popular classified ad types like Autos, Property, Jobs and Dating. There is a Classifieds selection for all other types.
How much does it cost to advertise?
Advertising is free on Ollo (yellow brackets around the ads) or you can pay a small fee for higher ranking (orange or red brackets around the ads).
- Free Ads (yellow) are popular but appear beneath the Premium ads on a given search. They go down the listings as new ads come along. These ads can go on for a year and you can renew them at the end. Various quality factors may also affect the ranking of an ad. Well written and well targeted ads perform the best.
- Premium Ads (orange) have a simple low cost fee of $10.00 to be included for a year. Shorter term classified ads may be proportionately less expensive. Premium ads sit on top of the free listings, are much more visible on a given search and are likely to be high ranking for a long time.
- Premium Ads with Bid Keywords (red) are the highest ranking ads and allow advertisers to 'fight' for top positions on the most popular keywords. The minimum price for a Premium Ad with Bid Keywords is $15.00. The minimum bid for any given keyword is $5.00 (so you could have an ad with three Bid Keywords at $5.00 for example). You can associate up to 100 Bid Keywords with an ad. Ollo's Bid Keyword tool lets you see where your ad will rank position for a bid you choose.
